A State-of-the-Art Center for Periodontal Treatment

Opened in 2022, Clifton Park Periodontics proudly features the latest in technology, dental equipment, and patient care amenities. Every aspect of our modern clinic has been designed to provide our patients with the safest, most efficient, and most effective care for their periodontal health. From her extensive training and experience, Dr. Lam personally developed and oversaw the planning and construction of our facility to set a new standard of care for the 21st century.

Cone Beam Computed Tomography

Dental cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) is a special type of x-ray machine used when regular two-dimensional (2-D) dental x-rays cannot provide sufficient information. This type of scan creates three dimensional (3-D) images of the dental structures, soft tissues, nerve pathways, and jawbone, allowing for precise treatment planning.

CBCT is not the same as conventional medical CT. However, dental CBCT can be used to generate high quality images with less radiation exposure compared to medical CT scans.

With a dental CBCT, a cone-shaped x-ray beam moves around you to produce several images or views to create a three-dimensional view of the targeted area.

Dr. Lam may recommend you receive a CBCT for a variety of reasons:

  • Planning for accurate placement of dental implants
  • Evaluation of the jaw, sinuses, nerve canals and nasal cavity
  • Determining bone structure and tooth orientation
  • Locating the origin of pain or pathology
  • Surgical planning for impacted teeth prior to orthodontic tooth exposure

At Clifton Park Periodontics, we use the Kavo OP3D machine, the latest in CBCT technology.

Digital X-Rays and Charting

At Clifton Park Periodontics, we pride ourselves on utilizing technology to create a smooth process for your periodontal needs.

Digital x-rays are used which reduces exposure time, involves no harmful chemicals, and are instantly saved. Compared to traditional film x-rays, digital x-rays result in less radiation and more convenience with readily viewable images.

Dr. Lam will review your x-rays during your visit, and she will display them on one of our high-resolution computer monitors.

Your personal dental patient chart, including your medical and dental history, dental findings, and x-rays, are all stored digitally in your electronic health record. Furthermore, our patients may access their records through our online Patient Portal.
